Galileo on why we read and how books give us superhuman powers
I was drawn to this article because I love to read. I feel like it is a great escape from reality and love to find books you can completely immerse yourself in. I was interested to see what the great scientist, Galileo, had to say about reading. I liked how he mentioned that authors are "speaking to those who are not yet born and will not be born for a thousand or ten thousand years." I couldn't help but think of how Shakespeare's stories have lasted way beyond his lifetime and people are still reading and acting his plays. Author's really do have this amazing ability and opportunity to not only tell stories for this generation or generations past but for those to come as well.
