(First voyage)
Sinbad comes from a wealthy family and spent a lot of his wealth on foolish pleasures. So to stay from being poor he sold of his belongings and joined a merchant ship. They set sail for the East Indies and become accustom to the life at sea.
One day when the wind had died, they sailed to an unknown island that appeared on the horizon. They men, including Sinbad went a shore and settled down for a break. All of a sudden the island began to shake and tremble. They soon realized it was actually the back of a sleeping whale. The whale suddenly dove into the ocean creating great waves sending the men and boat in all directions. Sinbad was lost to the waves, floating on a log of wood. After floating for a day or so Sinbad floated to an island where he found refuge.
Sinbad climbed the mountains and explored the island and it surroundings. Soon he came across a horse and met a man. The man was a servant to the king of the island and asked Sinbad to come with them.
(cont.)
Sinbad met the king and told him his story. He was well cared for and tended to by the king. Sinbad explored the island and its many merchants that frequented the island. In his time he also visited another island by the name of Cassel, which was inhabited by the spirit Deggial. Upon visiting the island eh saw nothing strange except for Giant fish in the surrounding waters.
Then soon one day he saw his ship in in the port unloading cargo and he noticed his name on the cargo. He then reunited with his crew who took him back with open arms. He thanked the king for his gracious hospitality and they exchanged gifts. Sinbad returned home rich and bough land and a large home, making him very happy and forget about his past suffering.
(Second Voyage)
Sinbad soon grew tired of the land and longed to return to the sea. He returned to his merchant ways and journeyed from island to island selling their goods, soon finding an island with lots of fruit and fresh water. Everyone relaxed and ate and soon Sinbad fell asleep under a tree.
When Sinbad awake he was alone and had been left behind by his crew and ship, stranded on the island. In hopes for safety and rescue Sinbad stumbled across a giant white ball of immense size on the ground. As the sun set, a giant bird of extraordinary size called a roc landed near the giant white ball, which he found out was an egg. Sinbad decided to tie himself to the leg of the bird that was the size of a tree trunk. The bird awake the next morning and carried him to the high in the air to another island. The new island that he found was very rocky and mountainous, and soon found that the land was covered with diamonds of all different sizes. Unfortunately there was also giant snakes that could swallow elephants, and although they hid in there caves during the day but came out at night.
The next day Sinbad devised a plan to use the giant eagles that also lived on the island as a means to escape. He stowed away on a piece of meat and when the eagle carried him to his nest he met up with merchants that were trying to steal the diamonds off the island. He stayed with the merchants and journeyed home with them, traveling to a few islands beforehand.
