Reading part B: Great Plains: Two Teton Ghost Stories

Ghost and the Traveler
            Once an Indian wandered alone in the woods when the thunder beings created a great storm. In the night he saw a bright light and when he followed it he found a sweat lodge with 2 people talking inside. They tried to invite him in but they were ghost so he ran. All at once he heard a women cry. He wished to find her so he would not be alone, and she appeared. She said to the man “Do not fear me; else you will never see me again.” They walked together but he started to worry she might try to hurt him, and with that she disappeared.
The Man Who Shot a Ghost

            Once there was a man out hunting rabbits and decided he would stay the night out in the forest. He decided if any danger comes then he will shoot them. He soon then to hear voices in the woods but saw no one. Eh hid under a fallen try and listened. The ghost where looking for him and soon found him. The man turned and shot the ghost, wounding him in the leg. They ghost said he had shot him in the head. The next morning the man went to where the ghost had been and found bones and a skull with a bullet in it.
