Reading outloud is a totally different experience than reading to yourself. I normally read in my head, so I feel like reading outloud took me a little more time. I enjoyed the fact that reading out loud gives the characters a voice and personality. I feel like it may have been more effective with this reading because it was with characters I was already familiar with. However, I think I will continue to read in my head. I am a fairly quick reader and have a vivid imagination. With new stories especially I feel like reading outloud will have me concentrating more on getting the words rather than being immersed in the story.
Hi there! Okay, I completely agree when you say it is a different experience reading out loud to yourself. I did not realize this though, until I became a TA two years ago, and then I was forced to say everything out loud haha. When you project it out, its like you are drawing an invisible map for yourself, and big concepts start to come together!
